LYMEC presents NO VISA Campaign to the European Youth Organizations
LYMEC presented its campaign against visa barriers in Europe at the Seminar and Lobby training on the Removal of Obstacles to the Mobility of Young People in Europe, organized by the European Youth Forum on 20th – 23rd October 2006 in Brussels.
The event, gathering young people from National Youth Councils and International Youth Organizations, focused on ways to remove obstacles to youth mobility by raising awareness and lobbying decision makers in Europe.
European Liberal Youth representatives, Majda Zeherovic (MLBiH, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Petar Djordjevic (CYA, Serbia) shared their experiences in applying for visas and discussed the negative effects of border barriers in Europe. The faces behind the Visa horror stories on LYMEC No Visa Leaflet expressed their deep concern with the current European Visa regime and called for a common action for the abolishment of tourist and student visas in Europe.
Presenting LYMEC No Visa campaign, LYMEC Bureau member Dalia Venslovaite, pointed out that European decision makers often speak about the birth of a European civil society, but hardly anything is being done to develop the most fundamental condition for the creation of the common European society as such – the freedom of movement inside Europe for European citizens. On the contrary, even larger barriers are being created by raising the price of visas for the Schengen zone and continuing with the long and bureaucratic visa issuing processes.
Discussions and workshops mostly focused on visa obstacles for Western Balkans, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. The experiences shared by the participants from different European countries made clear that the current visa regime is no longer acceptable for the European people. A need to ‘get visable’ urges for a strong common action and LYMEC has already taken a strong position.

Perdón, ¿el LYMEC es esa organización que considera a cataluña un país independiente? Lo digo por el mapa de Europa que aparece en su web. Cataluña con la incorporación de Valencia. No sé cómo podeis seguir militando en semejante movida.

Juventudes Liberales creo que debe seguir en los trabajando en los foros internacionales para que eso que tu precisamente mencionas acamus cambie. Lo que tu dices parece la via facil…
Creo recordar que su respoble internacional comento que habian pedido el cambio del mapa, pero parecen ignorar tal solicitud.

-Sí, yo sabía de la solicitud enviada, pero al parecerla influencia de CDC es intensa en el LYMEC… Seguramente la salida sea la solución fácil pero no veo las consecuencias positivas de continuar con la militancia en dicho organismo.

De sobrar alguien en LYMEC o la Internacional Liberal Juvenil es el partido nazionalista de Artur Mas y sus juventudes. Los haiderianos de Catalunya. Pero no te equivoques acamus, LYMEC es lo mejor de las “internacionales juveniles”. Ojalá tenga cada día más peso Juventudes Liberales y haga lo mismo que hizo el PP con el PNV en la Internacional Democristiana.

De momento convergencia es la referencia de las organizaciones liberales. No hay ningún partido español.

Bueno, bueno, muchos liberales europeos -y de primer nivel- están hasta el gorro de los convergentes por las noticas que van llegando de CDC. Con el CDS de Suárez y sobre todo con los liberales de Ignacio Camuñas (y luego los de Garrigues) se llevaban mejor. Juventudes Liberales debería hacer un Memorandum detallando el comportamiento liberticida de Convergencia y enviar (anexo) un mapa real al webmaster de LYMEC. Es la hora histórica de hacer valer el peso radical-liberal español en Europa: Ciutadans-JJ.LL. Tercer partido español.
