LYMEC warns about the deterioration of civil and individual liberties in Poland

On the occasion of an invitation to Poland by the European Socialist Youth (ECOSY), Roger Albinyana, LYMEC president, took the opportunity to meet the new leadership of Young Center (MC) and support them in the fight against nationalism and extremism increasing in that country and incited by the current leadership of twins Kaczynski, president and prime minister. In opinion of the LYMEC president, the image of the country by the rest of the EU is significantly worsening and there is a need for a strong liberal voice that can simply make the difference in the eyes of EU citizens. He also warned about the deterioration of civil and individual liberties as shown in several bills passed in the Parliament, and called upon the EU to put pressure on the government instead of ignoring the situation. Young Center is at the moment fostering a new strategy to face this terrible domestic situation.

LYMEC president delivered a speech at the congress of ECOSY under the theme “Our future for Europe” attended by 300 delegates from all around Europe. In his speech, Albinyana emphasised the differences existing between the two projects, but at the same time called for a joint action of all political youth organisations in Europe in demand of a real constitution for Europe drafted by an elected constitutional assembly. He also recalled that there are challenges that young people in Europe face and require a generational vision which goes beyond the party political ideologies and fights. He also refused the metaphor of Europe being a big elephant able to protect us from globalisation. During the congress a new leadership was elected and Giacomo Filibeck from Italy was unanimously re-elected as ECOSY president.

Esa derechona nacional-católica está muy activa también en España. Lo peor que una parte de esa derecha se presenta como liberal.
